USA fans incredibly turned on boss Gregg Berhalter following their goalless draw against England despite dominating Gareth Southgate’s side.
Supporters took to social media where #BerhalterOut was trending on Twitter as they blasted his tactics, squad management and substitutions.
Anger was directed at Berhalter after he made his first change in the 77th minute, while his decision to not start Giovanni Reyna caused backlash.
Still, USA were unlucky not to claim all three points at the Al Bayt Stadium after they spurned a number of key chances in the first half.
Christian Pulisic smacked the bar before the break, while Weston McKennie and Timothy Weah also went close.
But American supporters couldn’t look past the positives from the game, despite progression into the Round of 16 in their own hands as they only need to beat Iran on Tuesday.
Raging online, one fan tweeted: “Berhalter has gotten most of the roster selections right the past two games. However the in-game management and substitutions have been atrocious.”
Another blasted: “Keeping Gio Reyna out of this match is criminal.”
A third added: “Best generation of talent USA has at its disposal and they have a manager that’s no tactics just wearing new Jordan’s each matches and vibes.”
This fan then raged: “Berhalter telling the team to slow it down instead of crossing it into the box is one of the many reasons he’s a terrible coach.”
Meanwhile one user commented: “Imagine a world with this US men’s team having all this young talent BUT with innovative, competent coaching.”
Another simply stated: “WORST. USMNT. MANAGER. EVER.”
Though there were some fans that were defending the ex-Crystal Palace defender, as they called out the naysayers for their criticism of Berhalter.
One posted: “If you’re doing that ‘BerhalterOut’ thing right now, you’re not actually paying attention to what’s happening.”
This supporter tweeted: “The fact #BerhalterOut is trending after today’s result just shows how entitled much of the #USMNT fanbase has become.”
Another said: “#BerhalterOut trending after the US draws England in the World Cup is the most England thing US fans can do.”
